I had some problems sharing an external hard drive enclosure to back it up using my Windows server but I was able to do so with a utility found here. My new issue is Backup Exec and the Remote Agent can't talk. When you install a Mac agent it ask you to point it to a media server which in the documentation it states it is supposed to call home from what I have read in the documentation but it doesn't seem to do that. I am using the root account to configure all of this just so we are clear. The next part in my troubleshooting with Symantec included uninstalling, and reinstalling the agent which did nothing. I cannot browse the computer as the root user from a Windows computer, but on a Windows computer I am able to browse the computer if I authenticate as a user with admin privileges. I am unsure what is special about this account, as using SharePoints I stated 'Everyone' is R/W access to the shares. I feel strongly this has something to do with the key issue but Symantec has no idea what is wrong.
